There were 502 Evolution II's, 500 for sale and 2 kept by Mercedes. All were LHD, all were blue-black metallic (paint code 199). None were sold in North America (US/Canada) by Mercedes since the 2.5-16 car was never DOT/EPA certified for safety and emissions (Mercedes didn't have a problem selling them) requirements. Currently that's the biggest impediment to importing them from Europe or Japan, until they reach 20 years old. There are apparently a few that may have slipped into Canada and the US.
There are some other common misconceptions about the Evo II. AMG didnt have anything to do with the design or construction of the car. That was all done by Mercedes. The rear wing and the window spoiler were designed in Mercedes' wind tunnel. Other than the original head, Cosworth had nothing to do with the car, since by the time the 2.5-16 was released, Mercedes took over casting and construction of the head. Duplicating an EVO II with a 2.3 or 2.5-16 chassis isn't really feasable since the internals of the engine are completely different and most of the suspension is completely different. You can add a body kit, but it's not going to be an Evo.
