A/c, Aux Fan Problems + Cold Hesitation

I recently purchased a 190E 2.6 Auto w/ 150K+. I got it cheap, but it has/had alot of problems. I had a mechanic do some work. I did some work.

I am currently trying to diagnose the A/C system:

1) The A/C compressor does not come on in any mode (A/C, defog, dehuminidify).

2) The aux fans run constantly, as long as the ignition is hot. If I pull fuse 3, it completly disables the aux fans (nothing else changes).

3) The engine fan works.

4) The engine typically runs at around 80C with the aux fans running; a bit hotter with the aux fans disabled, but not overheating.

AND, a cold start hesitation:

1) When the engine is cold, it hesitates during the first couple of accellerations.

2) I see the tach climb, but the vehicle barely moves.

Thanks in advance for any help, hints, or advice.

Cold Hesitation:

Sounds more like the transmission. My car runs strong when cold but tranny starts slipping 75% of the time when engine is fully warmed. I have too much ATF so when the fluid warms up I guess that causes it to slip. Maybe you have not enough fluid when cold and just the right amount when the engine is hot. Check ATF level with vehicle running and warm. Maybe that's the problem. Good luck.

PS-The reason I have too much fluid is my transmission modulator started leaking ATF into the intake manifold so when I filled it back I put in too much but I will drain some out when I change the modulator out. I hope that's what's causing the tranny to slip.

For the auxilary fans, you may have a bad temp sensor. I just replaced the one on my 190e 2.3. It was a blue topped sensor, with two terminals. I checked the resistance across the two terminals. WIth the car totally cold, I had about 5K ohms resistance, and the fans didn't run. Once the car warmed up a little, the resistance went almost infinite.

The dealer stocked the sensor and the new one works perfectly. The part number for the 190E 2.3 is 008-542-45-17. This may be the same number for the 2.6.
