MIL or Check Engine Lite ON!

I have a 1992 190E with 2.6 liter engine. The Check Engine Light went ON recently. I changed the O2 sensor and tried reseting it by taking the battery out. Unfortunately, the Light went back a week after. After reading the book, fault codes will not reset by just unplugging the battery. It needs diagnostic tools....Reeeeally frustrated looking for one. Does anybody know where to get one?

I think the reset button for the check engine light on the later models is on a small silver box located under or near the front passenger seat.

I think it's called the On/Off Diagnostic switch located outside the passenger area near the battery which, according to the repair manual we have to manually reset the codes and by holding it for 6-8 secs while the ignition is turned ON. Well, tried to do it but check engine lite did not go away. I want to make sure that all faults are known or fixed. Tried to look for a diagnostic tool for 190E's but could not find one....So odd! Why so hard to find? Nobody has it except the dealers...Is it True? And if there's one, why sooo expnsive? If anybody knows one, please let me know okay?

I think the one under the passenger seat is to reset the O2 sensor BUT it's only available for the 2.3 or the 4 cylinder engine.

1993 190E 2.6
For me the reset button is not in a silver box. Mine is black and right in front of the battery mounted on the wall in front of the battery. Pull the black cap off and you will see a tiny button and a red LED with a bunch of numbers. Start Engine....hold the button for 6 seconds then release. It will blink....count how many times it does. Hold for another 6 secs after it has finished and recount the blinks. Then hold it for another 6 secs after that and it resets the Check engine light. This is for my 1993 190E 2.6, others may vary.
