Hi All!
I now own an '84190d w/ 232k miles
The brake pedal goes all the way to the floor. You can pump it to build up a little pressure, but it doesn't last.
The a/c compressor, should it kick on when the ac is turned on at idle?
When the key is turned off, it still runs, where do I start my search???

The brake problem sounds like your master cylinder has gone south. The same thing happened to me awhile back. I would be stopped had a trafficlight and would have to pump my brakes just to keep my car from moving; I had lost some much pressure. I picked up a rebuilt master cylinder from Advance Auto for like $120+core (like $80 in the end).
As for the engine continuing to run, check over at www.MercedesShop.com , search their Diesel section. I'm sure it has been covered there.
