MBZ Evolution 190E
It would be cheaper to get an airline ticket, buy an Evolution I or II for sale in Europe or Japan (Yes, they (the 500 of each that were sold to the public, are usually listed for sale somewhere in the world); pay for shipping and the "federalization" hassle of US Customs, DOT, NHTSA, than trying to convert a 2.3L into one. With luck, you might be able to get it all done for $50-70K for a relatively good example.
The engine is a custom built 2.5-16, not the one used in the standard 2.5-16's that were sold everywhere but North America. The 4-wheel self leveling suspension is pretty much unique to the Evolutions, but was an option for the 2.5-16.
You can buy a bodykit, you can even tune a 2.3-16, add a turbo or supercharger, but it still won't be an Evolution.
Me personally wouldnt convert it to a Evo replica...but then again Im not fast or furious. I think the way the vehicle was designed from the get go is just fine. tho...a supercharged engine would be a bonus.
Recently a EVO 1 kit was just purchased from MB in Germany - cost around 2500,0eu
