Exhaust options

I have been searching around a little bit to try to find a good exhaust setup for my 190 2.3. I have found some things but wanted to find out whats best! I dont know much about Ehaust systems so if I sound totally stupid when I talk about different parts of the system forgive me. I am to the understanding that our cars have two mufflers....am I right? I want to get rid of one of them, I am not interested in headers right now but maybe in the future or if someone is getting rid of them for a good price right now. What I am interested in is going from the exhaust manifold to the cat to a new rear muffler that would give it a nice sound. I really don't want an anoying bumble bee sound but a nice deep sound. If anyone has any ideas or could lead me to a previous forum that would be awesome! Thanks everyone!

Oh and by the way this is off the subject but our cars are really one of a kind!

The 2 mufflers that you are talking about is the center muffler (resonator) and then the rear muffler. Most people remove the resonator, and replace it with a straight pipe. The best setup is going with a high-flow cat into a straight pipe (2 1/4" or 2 1/4") then into the rear muffler. Supersprint and Remus makes mufflers for our cars which are one of the best IMO, but they are pricey. Some people go with a cheaper option and go with a cheap Ebay Remus "look alike". A custom exhaust shop can do all the work for you.

BTW, check your local laws about emissions unless you already know them about using high-flow cats. You can buy high-flows cats that meet emission standards.

Sorry my mistake. I just re-read my post and I meant to say (2 1/4" or 2 1/2"). I wouldnt go any bigger than that.

Sound

What kind of sound would you get from a 2.3 8v if you have the stock cat, remove the resonator, and a reasonably priced rear muffler? I haven't really explored that option because I figured it would just sound lame with an 8v. I don't want to sound like a ricer, and definately don't want to sound like a wanna-be ricer . If I could get a decent exhaust note, I'll try it next time, but if it's gonna sound the least bit cheesy I'd prefer stock.

Try Ebay or JCWhitney.com.
