190e Amg?
As some of you know, I am interrested in a Mercedes 190E. However, I do not know tons about these cars. What exactly is a Mercedes AMG model? Also, I've heard of "mini 190E AMG"s. What are these like? Is it just as easy to find parts for these? What are the mini-Benz price of parts in comparison to a normal 190E? Any other differences?

AMG is Mercedes' high performance tuning division. AMG stands for Aufrecht Melcher Grossaspach, the name of a tuning company that was incorporated into Mercedes Benz in 1999. When MB makes a new model, (For example, the recently released CLS sedan), they send the car to AMG who tunes the car (normally the most powerful version of the car, i.e. the E55 (supercharged V8) is a modified E500 (V8), not a modified E320 (V6)). The car is then sold by Mercedes as a separate model alltogether. However, not all models have AMG versions (for example the European A-class) because the A class is an economy car. I havent heard of a 190E AMG, but its possible they exist because AMG was tuning MBs before it was acquired.

AMG began tuning the W201 around 1984, taking the solid lifter version of the 8 valve 2.3L motor and getting 150 (US, 160 in Europe) horsepower the old fashioned way, cams, exhaust and porting. 3 versions, non-wide body, wide body and the 3.2L Baby Hammer.
