Thanks for all the advice so far! My car is a 91 2.6L with 130k miles. I have what I think are bad ball joints. I Get the squeaking and creaking when I turn and the tires do not track back to center without me turning back. I have always gone to specialty shops to get work done i.e. brakes at the brake shop or at the dealer for warranty work. I think it would cost a lot more to have MB throw a new ball joint in than a regular shop. Anyone in AZ know a good shop or is there a a kind of specialty shop that could handle a ball joint replacement? Also what kind of costs are associated with it. I just hate drawing attention to myself in crowded parking lots as it sounds like I am running over a family of cats whenever I turn.

i don't drive a W201 but i replaced my balljoints recently.
from what you said in your message, i gather it would be the ball joints too.. the lower balljoints costs about $20 each... i had it all in for a tad over $100 (i'm in HK and i took it to a friend's garage)..
sorry i cannot recommend a garage though
