aloha folks great sight,going to look at a 89 190e 2.6 16v
any suggestions??what to look for,is this a good year for a shade tree mechanic
any help would be app.

You mean the 2.3-16, which was not produced in '89 (production ended mid '88) or are you looking for the 2.6L 12 valve M103 motor?

Check craigslist Honolulu, there have been a couple 2.6L listed on there in recent history. The best year for a 2.6L is probably the last year, '93.

I have spotted roughly 4 or 5 of the 2.3-16's in Honolulu, mostly the smoke silver ones, although there was a "resale red" one. The W201 is a good car for Honolulu, with MPG in the low to mid 20's, the narrow track made it easy to park in compact spaces and its not a "lane hog." There are two or three AMG tuned 2.3's here, and an early Lorinser and Carlsson tuned car as well.

thanks for your help,i'll start looking for a 2.3 16 valve, if you see any for sale i'd appreciate a heads up,i've seen a couple of 190e 2.6 for sale locally but not any 2.3 16v for awhile
