engine died
while driving around 120km/m engine stops suddenly. all dash warning light came on. pull on the left. try to restart immediately but no chance. good battery, good rotor. looks exactly the same like when you run out of gas. try again after 30 min, engine starts but stops again in les than 1 min. 4 or 5 similar attempts. flat battery. (i should stop trying). tow the car in a safe place good compression while towing the car in the 5-th gear (to have the steering and brakes going). oil at the lowest mark in the engine. enough fuel. any technical advices? I’m lost without it.

hi,
Check the fuel pump, fuel relay, fuel injection. One way to know if it's the fuel pump is to leave the key in the ignition to on and if you hear a buzz noise. If there noise is there then check the other two items.

did this happen at night
Your shouild have noticed dimming lights etc, but if during the day did you notice any other electrical losses? I'm guessing you flattened the battery due to the alternator being dead, the resart was just enough to get you going and then after a few minutes of running off what little battery you had the car died.
See if you can change the voltage reg on the outside, if so you're in business for 20-30 bucks otherwise the whole alt replacement can cost $100-$300 depending if you are a DIY'r.
best of luck

problem is gone
very precise description. yes, indeed the problem was the fuel pump. no "buzz" noise came from it but as soon as I knock it with a stone the pump started, so the engine. the trick if you want to drive the car (till the garage or a mechanic) is to keep the revs up because when the engine is going under 2200 the pump fails again. I’ve got a new pump 3 wk ago and since then no troubles at all. Thanks, reco
