190e High Hc/co
Hey everyone, I have a question that I hope I can receive help on. On emission my 89 190e 6cyl blew high on HC/CO = Hydrocarbon & Carbon Monoxide. I had the valve seals replaced, and my O2 sensor light is working but not on to indicate a replacement is needed. I have given it a tune up also my HC = 3.0535 & CO =48.6325. Any ideas?

I don't drive it that much AT ALL but I knew I needed new valves seals I was burning and smelling oil. However, after the NEW valve seals more power and no oil smells.

so how much oil you burning now? if there is no significant oil burning then you must be running rich, so how many mpg? also this is a 15yr old car, you did not mention mileage, but just because the o2 light is not on it doesn't mean replacement would not solve the problem...

I drive a 1991 190e 2.3 and I also own a 2001 ML320
o2 sensor is a usual cause of not passing smog replace it. catalic con. is another. I try the o2 sensor first.
