The W124 is the predecesor to the W210 which is the predecesor to the W211. From '84 to '93 the W124 had the numbers/engine size come before 'E' in the badge. From '94 to '95, the 'E' in the badge came first followed by the numbers/engine size. They are essentially the same car with obviously mods as the years went by. The W124 was built from 1984 to 1995, with different cariations of options and engine sizes. Check out this link to find out some specs on the W124.

And yes, LCB is correct about the 190E/W201 being the predecesor to the C-Class/W202. The W201 was built from 1982 to 1993, also with coming with different variations of options and engine sizes.
BTW, the car in my signature is my W124/1993 300E-2.8ltr. I just jumped forums to see some of the rides that W201 owners have. I noticed that there wasnt a pic thread and decided to try and make one and hopefully make it "Sticky" if any of the moderators noticed.

Many thanks for that. Clear and helpful. But no wonder I was confused with your request being for 190's and your photo being your glorioso 300E. What a cracker.
I think to be a sticky it needs to be for alll W201's not just modified but who minds. Sad that everything else has a sticky and this -one of the most collected and cherished of all the classes does not. Maybe worth a PM to the administrator.
