Modifying a Mercedes is hardly ever a "bolt on" affair and rarely inexpensive. Mosselman will sell you a turbo kit for 4X the value of your car, but that would make no sense whatsoever. Custom manifolds can be fabricated and EFI kits can replace the Bosch CIS system to provide the additional fuel, but it's going to be a custom job, either via $ or DIY sweat equity.

It may sound strange, but one of the benefits of tuning the W201 is that there ISN'T a bunch of bolt on tuning parts, like for a Honda, Nissan or BMW . . . every HP you gain is going to be achieved by more than slapping a piece on after handing over your VISA card.

1993 Mercedes 190E
I'm sorry you might not like this answer, RenRen, but dare I suggest that if you're not happy with the 190E then you sell it to somebody who will really appreciate it and look after it.
It is possible to modify the 190E and get much more performance out of it, but that isn't really the point of the car. The latest examples of the 190 are now over twelve years old and it is rapidly attaining the status of a classic vehicle. This means that there is a limited supply of 190s and a good clean 'original' 190 will soon actually start appreciating in value.
If you must modify it, then it is going to take a lot of hard work and expertise to do the job properly. Unless you already know what you are doing, this will cost you a lot of money - probably much more than you could buy a new vehicle for plus the bolt-ons you favour. You could then keep the 190 as it is and enjoy two cars - the 190 for being a good car and the other for being fast.
One mod which is not so difficult if you happen to have the six-cylinder 2.6 litre version of the 190 is a swap to a bigger engine.
Whatever you plan on doing, remember to keep the brakes and suspension updated in line with the engine and transmission.

I don't think there's much doubt that I'm one of the biggest "fans" of the W201 around, but I have to take issue with that statement. Mercedes built and sold over 1 million units of the W201 chassis, so they're going to be around for quite awhile and not likely to be considered a "limited supply" item in our lifetimes.

As for "appreciating in value" it's also unlikely to happen in the forseeable future, except for the Evolutions, the twincam and possibly the 2.5 Turbo Diesel. Tuner cars from AMG, Brabus, Carlsson, Schulz, etc. are rarities as well.

Past experience shows that only the SL's show any significant rise in value after 30 years, while the sedans languish. After the SL's, the coupes and limited production models show some improvement in resale values.
