How on earth do you remove the door handles

I am wanting to remove the exterior door handles and door mirror covers to paint them the same colour as the body with automotive spray paint and clear coat, does anyone have any ideas on how i should go about revoving these handles, or will i have to take it somewhere to do this? I certainly do not want to damage this car.

In summary, you have to

remove the interior door cards
remove the round door plug from the rear edge of the door
loose the allen nut thru the door plug
insert the door key into the lock, turn 60 degrees to the rear, while pushing towards the rear of the car, the assembly will slide out.

Once the lock piece is out, you can push the handle towards the rear and remove the handle

The mounting trim on the door is held in by screws.

Isn't there some "flame war" over in the MBCA forum you need to attend to?

The joy of helping other W201 owners in distress is its own reward.
