190E 2001 2.3 Whining noise when I let off gas
Hi,
I was wondering if anybody out there knows:
What the sound is in the car rear passenger side when I let off the gas pedal.
It is high pitched.
If you do know, by chance do you know the cure?
Thanks in advance

It might be the "Mr. Fusion" unit's flux capacitor, since you've got a 2001 190E.
But seriously . . . at the rear passenger side (and the driver's side), I would try to inspect the bearings, axle half shafts, parking brake shoes. Consider putting the car up on jackstands in the rear and carefully doing a test with the car in gear.

It could be the differential or axle. I've seen this in many 190s.
If that's the case, then eventually you'll need to replace it, but if you just started hearing the noise, you have awhile till it'll go bad.

Thank you.
It is a 91 not a 2001 as the post implies. And I do believe it is the differential.
Is there any fluid I can add? Somebody said something about 80/90????
Thanks for your help \
