Coolant leaking from drain hose
I have a 1993 190E with a 2.0 liter engine that leaks coolant whether the engine is running or not. When I fill the expansion tank, I notice water running out of a small hose on the front left side of the motor (the same side as the expansion tank). It takes about five minutes before the expansion tank is empty.
The hose is about 1/2-inch in diameter and is clamped to the engine block. The bottom end of the hose is almost even with the oil pan and empties onto the lower engine cover. I cannot see where the hose connects into the engine, but it looks like it is somewhere near the water pump.
Does this hose connect into the water pump? If so, is this an indication that the water pump has failed and the 2.0 liter engine has a special drain line for such a failure? I am not driving the car and will have it towed to the garage for repair.
Thanks in advance for your help!
