cluster lights and console lighting problem....
i know someone who has a 1990 190E and his gauge cluster lights dont work as well as the console lighting.....no interior lighting works other than the front dome light and the lights that light up the ABS/Check Engine/ High Beams/Etc. indicators....we checked the instrument cluster fuse element (or whatever it is called) located behing the gauge cluster (the red twist top one). We also tried to turn up the dimmer but that hasnt worked either....and help/advice on how to cure this problem would be appreciated....T.I.A.

It's more than likely that you need a new dimmer switch. Mine is broken as well. Annoying at first but now I don't even notice it anymore. Probably not very safe. The best way to tell is if your turn signals light and your emergency flasher and ash tray light. If those all do, it's your dimmer switch. Don't know how much they cost. I'm lazy and used to it!
