16V coilovers

Does anyone make coilvers for the 16V? Mine is dropped on H&R springs and it makes the top of the tires hit the wheel wheel to easy when I hit bumps. Thanks. Or does anybody suggest a different setup?

Currently, there are no "off the shelf" coil over struts for the W201. The primary reason is that the car's chassis isn't designed for that arrangement and would require modification to the strut tower and control arm to adapt to it. In other words, it's not going to be the choice of most owners for street use, so trying to sell them is only going to attract a limited audience.

Consider too, that the stock suspension system performs very well, having served as the basis for various W201 racing platforms, both here in the US and in Europe. The later DTM cars did have modified suspensions, as allowed by the rules, but prior to that, the 16 valves campaigned with the OEM style system tuned for the track and also with the recirculating ball steering.

Looks like I will find a better shock to compliment the H&R springs then, Thanks.

i know that Tein makes coilovers for any car, you give em the specs and they make them for you....i dont know if it's possible for W201's or W124's but if it is possible...be prepared to fork out the dough/chedda/chips/whatever you call it....

Not willing to pay arm and a leg for suspension. I like the lowered suspension, but need to prevent the tires from hitting the top of the wheel well so much. Bekkers used to have a nice lowering spring and shocks combo from Bilstein but they don't have it anymore. I just need to find what shocks work best with H&R springs.

Bilstein Sports struts and shocks are pretty much your best, widely availabe choice. You might be able to find some Koni Adjustables still available.

Some pretty good deals on the Sports do appear on eBay from time to time. Getting a new set of struts and shocks for around or just over $400 seems to be the sweet spot.
