A nice 2" crack in the oil pan.

The bottom of it, leaking oil.

The car was only sitting for about an hour.

A new one from www.stopshopanddrive.com costs $250.00. I am going to the junkyard today to see if they have any ones there in decent condition. I barely found out I had the crack yesterday. It's been there for the past 2 weeks. Last week I was running with NO oil and I didn't know. Good thing I found out and topped the oil off.

Usually an impact sufficient to cause a crack will "leave a mark." Whacking the oil pan can even generate a good sized hole that causes immeidate oil evacuation.
Cracks in the aluminum pan can result from material fatigue from expansion and contraction and poor casting. Yes, the casting of some Mercedes parts is pretty lame, wonder why the paint on the valve covers is so thick?
