1987 190e 2.3 16v
New owner of a not so new 87 "Cosworth"

I just recently purchased an 87 190e 2.3 16v with a manual transmission. I am only getting ~17 miles per gallon right now. I have previously owned a regular 190e and never got anything near as low as 17mpg. Is this what I should expect to get or could this be a symptom of some issue? The engine does seem to idle very rough when car is started after setting for a number of hours and it does ocasionally stall out (issue goes away after a short amount of steady driving.)

That is about how crappy a mpg I get out of my 85 Euro spec 16v. I used to have some stalling issues when I first got the car too. But it went away after I had the mixture adjusted and new clutch, ring gear, flywheel, throw out bearing, pilot bearing, starter, rear main seal, and shifter bushings replaced. It is an all original with 123k miles on it when I bought it. Not sure which part of the $2100 in repairs fixed it though. My guess is it is running rich. Still has a slightly erratic idle. About a 200-300 rpm variance.
