190E - 93 Cruse Control Does not work
I have 190E, 1993 model, all of sudden when I am driving, my cruse control is not setting. Any one can help in sugesting what could be wrong. Thanks

Burnt Brake Light Bulbs???
What would burnt bulbs have to do with cruise control working or not? I can understand if you are out of fuel that the cruise wouldn't work but burnt bulbs?Is this a joke or are you serious. If serious please explain.
What about the hall sensor behind the instrument cluster? Isn't that also a potential problem area?
I would like to know because my cruise doesn't work either. I have checked the switch, actuator, control box and fuse. All are ok but still no cruise and yes I do have ample fuel.

The cruise control amplifier checks the electrical status of the brake circuit and if there's a brake bulb that is burnt out or missing, will not allow the cruise control to engage. It used to be thought that not using the OEM Osram brake light bulbs caused cruise control failures, but that's been shown to be a myth.
A stretched speedo cable, causing a jumpy speedometer needle will also "fail" the cruise control system.
The "typical" failure results from broken solder joints of the main circuit board of the amplifier. The remedy is to either replace it with a known good one or to take a low wattage soldering iron, open up the amplifier and then painstakingly touch all the solder pads so that the reheated solder can bridge any cracks.
