2.6L engine

hi. my car has 211k, the engine seems to idle rough, and when it gets warmer and i shut it off, and try to start it again it acts as if it catches on something.... otherwise the cap has a crack the wires are junk and there is oil all over the side of the engine.... exhaust side...
so my question is what to do? i just wanna fixer up for
the winter

it also has no power under a load til the rpms spike up.

thanks for looking at this
and help or advice appreciated!

take the cap and wires off and clean them.

clean them with 409 or fantastic or what i use heavy duty cleaner degreaser from smart and final. it is just concentrated 409 fantastic.

use the remanants on the engine with a brush and hose it off. try not to get the pulleys wet, the bearings don't like water if they are not moving

be sure to separate the cap from the plastic cover...

if you cannot replace the cap. a temp fix is clear silicone. be sure to use a little clear or ultra grey silicone around the spark plug wire ends where they fit onto the cap, this seals the high voltage from leaking to the black plastic cover which is conductive. why they made it conductive.. ????

while the cap is off... clean the are below it and silicone it... this is where the timing cover meets the front of the block. this is a major leak area. i like to clean with cheep brake cleaner... beware it drys out seals... and it shrinks them also... try not to breath the vapors some of them have made me sick.

hope this helps/

i am new to the board but i work on a few w201 and old 113/114s a lot
