Which 190?

Hello Everyone,

I'm from the dreaded ML side and have been considering a 190 for a project car. I don't know anything about these cars; which engine would be best and is the auto trans respectable from a performance standpoint, or would a manual 5spd be best? Thanks

Your best "bang for the buck" for a project car is the six cylinder 2.6L. Smooth six cylinder M103 motor and it benefits from having all the "upgrades" compared to the earlier four cylinder models, like the ventilated front brakes, W124 steering spindles and slightly larger sway bars.

The six also provides the optimum base for a motor swap to a M104 twincam engine, including the C36 AMG motor, if you can source it.

Manual transmission is best, if you can find a car with one.
