Buying a 190e 2.3-16, could use some advice
So I tried posting on 190 revolution and didn't get much of a response. I'm lined up to buy a 1987 190e 2.3-16 on Saturday. I checked out the car and its goergeous. Entirely original with leather that looks like new, no cracks in the wood, and even the black bumper trim pieces shine. Body kit is perfect. Only things I see wrong are a small surface rust bubble near the top of the right rear door, the drivers seat does not go up and down, and the air is non functional. Besides that it looks good Price is $6,500 and 140k miles. Car has never seen snow and buying from a german guy who has an A6, A4, and a completely restore 1962 porsche convertible that is his new toy. Car is to be inspected at my independant on Saturday and then plan to buy. How does this scenario sound to you guys? price, miles, seller, pics attached?

she looks beautiful! i have a 1986 16 valve and i love it! i traded my porsche 944 and some cash for it totaling 5000 and mine has the same problems, air not working, seat problem, but the odometer is broken so the miles are unknown. but from the pictures and info on the seller id say go for it! i bought mine from a restoration guy. he just had it sitting and hated letting it go to waste, but in my opinion
if you havent already test drive it see if the steering wheel vibrates, and if it idles correctly. other than that have fun with her im sure youll love it!

Car checked out so I bought it, except the muffler fell off pulling into the independant. I found it humorous, ironic, and scary all at the same time. He gave me the complete factory tech repair manuals in lieu of a muffler replacement. Oh well, I guess I paid $6850 for the car which I still think is a good deal.

I paid $6,500 to the previous owner for the vehicle. I said $6,850 because as we were pulling in to get the car inspected before I ever even bought it, the muffler fell off. The owner wouldn't take money off of the sale price to fix the muffler so I had to give him the 6,500 and get a new muffler right away which was 350. Since then, I've also put another $1,100 into it for new timing chain, hvac fix which got the a/c working, valve adjustment, antenna grommet install, spark plugs, fuel and air filter, and valve cover gasket. Technically the car idles perfect now, blows ice cold air, has a lot more power, and is feeling like a brand new car. The 60-90 acceleration is a lot of fun on the highway, a lot more so than my old c230 kompressor

That for clarifying that. That is BS that he wouldn't take any money off since the muffler fell off. Good to hear that for a little bit more money, you got a great running car. Congrats.
