Radio Install using factory fader and door speakers

Hi. I was wondering if I change the stock Alpine headunit to a Clarion DXZ575USB ( http://www.dealercostcaraudio.com/dxz575usbrb.aspx) which matches great with the stock all black and wood look for the 190E. My 2.6 came with 4 inch front speakers which I changed to Clarions already, the two front door speakers and the rear ones which are 5.25 inches.

Can I still use my stock door speakers with the factory amp with my new head unit? I ve been searching thru all the wiring diagrams and pictures but only see how to hook up the front and rear speakers to the headunit and not the door speakers. I went to Best Buy, Fry's, and Circuit City and they all wanted $120 bucks or so to install it for me because of by passing the factory fader and factory amp they said. Thinking about saving my money since the radio is only $109 bucks. Is there any way to install a new radio and use the fader and front door speakers or do I have to by pass them?

Also does anyone have pictures of 6.5 inch speakers in the rear deck of their car?

I would like to have 6 speakers in the car instead of just 4. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks.

The door speakers are really just very small subs, not full range speakers, powered by a small amp. Sonically, you're much better off to bypass the fader and run new speaker wires.

Ok...but how do I do that? I have no idea how to run new wires and I refuse to give Best Buy or Circuit City a few hundred dollars just so they can do it for me. Any tips would be great.

Aloha MTI. I miss saimin. lol

By running new speaker wires, you just need to follow the wiring diagram that came with the Clarion headunit, with the addition of "bass blockers" to those tiny front dash speakers since you don't want any moderate amount of bass to those tiny drivers.

While I prefer to solder with a cordless iron, rather than crimp, wiring lugs to the speaker wire, if you do a decent job with a crimper, you should have no issues in getting solid electrical connections.

I'm going to leave my fader in and use the feed to the stock amp (two wires)to power a sony explode 4/3 amp that I've seen at Walmart for $99.00. It powers four speakers. The two in the door are regular speakers, the stock amp is sub amp. I'll replace rear deck speakers with Infinities and maybe the front door ones if they distort.

Installed rear speakers

Ok was finally able to install a pair of 6.5 inch plus one Infinity Reference speakers. It was a royal pain in the ***. The glue that held the original paper speakers to the factory mount would not come off so my dad had to cut the paper cones and then break the plastic speaker bracket piece by piece off of the plastic mount that clips into place of the rear deck. Had to jury rig it. The speaker's tweeters stand too high. Had to cut the plastic frame of the factory cover as well because the tweeters would rub against it while driving and a fine dust will cover your speakers as a result. These speakers are rated at 2 ohms. They seem to draw alot of power from the factory unit so we shall see when it will blow out. The original speakers were 6 ohms. I get some buzzing with the rear right speaker. Not sure why tho. Maybe the lower resistance is allowing some extra noise through? Will upgrade to a more powerful deck after the Christmas sales. Will take some pics too to help out other fellow owners who are on the fence. I would stick to a 5.25inch speaker instead of the 6.5 inch one which according to Infinity and JBLs webpage and also Pioneers - fits. NOT! Had to cut wayy too much of the plastic off of the factory mounts. Glad those things are well built by the Germans. Im amazed that the glue they used was strong as steel after all these years too! Mine's a 1993!
