1986 190e
190e wont stay running

hows it going everyone im new to the board....i recently just bought a 1986 190e....but ran into a little issue.....turn the key car starts....runs for about 10-15 seconds and dies out slowly and stalls.....try to start it again and runs for about 3 seconds and does the same thing...let it sit for 5 min or so and turn the key and get 10-15 seconds again and does the same thing....any help would be great....thanks

I would check the fuel system, sounds like it doesn't have pressure

I have the same issue with mine. but it will stay on after about 5 mins or so of trying to start it. runs very crappy afterward.

I had a similar problem and finally found two fuses in a small black fuse box ,just forward of the main fuse on on drivers side under the hood..they were toasted. Replace them and all has been good

Always good to check fuses.

But I agree with gullwing. Could be a number of things causing it to do this, but I'd start with a new fuel filter. Then try running some fuel additive thru it, Chevron Techron is good stuff.

If you still have problems you could pull the fuel pumps out and test them. Could also be a faulty idle control valve, but I don't know much about that thing. I actually have mine out right now because my car hasn't been idling properly - found that the main vacuum line going to the ICV was literally falling apart lol.

WONT stay started<1989 190 E >starts and stalls 10 to 12x runs 3 to 5 sec. then dies. Mess with it flutter gas pedal and keep trying finally get her going. Is this feul filter, fuses, ICV???
