Question Help: what is "Strut & Spindle" - (hard parts that don't wear out)?

I bought 1993 Mercedes 190e 2.6L 6 cylinder from junk yard, replaced radiator, cam shaft, head gasket, valve job - car runs okay now. I took the car in to tire shop for alignment and he told me the left front was wrecked, needs a new strut & spindle.

So, I go online and find a strut but can't find what a spindle is. I call him back and told him I found a KYB Gr-2 Gas Strut and he says that's not what you need. You need the strut and spindle from a wrecking yard - hard parts that don't wear out.

Does anyone know what I need? He says the old ones are bent and that's why the front left wheel angles in from the ground up.

I am at a loss and haven't been able to figure this out in forum search or google.

wheel angles inward

After staring at the parts on my can and researching the internet all day, I found a spindle (also called a knuckle sometimes from more research) at www.lqkonline.com for about $75. It seems like this mates directly up to a strut which I can find new ($81 for a KYB G2 but does anyone have any recommendations?).

The front driver wheel angles inward from bottom up to the top when viewed from the front of the car very noticeably - maybe 15 degrees! So, I guess something must be bent (e.g. spindle and strut). The passenger side angles in as well but not nearly as much. I will try taking it apart this weekend and see if I can see more what the problem is.

You should be able to fine pars numbers one each piece you need.

You should also replace the bearing, and maybe hub. How is the lower control arm and lower control arm bushings?

If you think you want to lower the suspension or upgrade anything, now is the time to do it. You can find kits online.
