16v auto redlining at 6000rpm????
Hi Guys,
just bought a 16v auto and as the 16v were never sold here (australia) strugling to get an answer to my early redline issue.
The dash is origional and the ignition amp. shows a redline of 7100rpm printed on it.
FYI the last owner didnt know too much about them and messed arround with it a bit so he may have put some normall 190 part somewhere he shouldnt have.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

MBWorld Fanatic!
7100 redline never existed on the cluster. I assume you mean 7k. Check the fuel pump relay which says the fuel pump cut off right on it.
just wondering, why did you buy an auto 16V

Thanks. Spot on! Some clown had put a 190e relay in it. Trying to get a 16v one at the moment.
Reasion I bought auto is they are very rare cars in Australia, maybe 10-15 16v's and it was the only reasionable priced one on the market. 16v's are very expensive here $20k +
It was very cleen and i use it as my daily driver so Auto works better in the city.
As I do like it allot I'll get a 5speed one later or convert this one when it is not being used every day.
cheers
