Angry Power Steering feels stiff and jelly like...

Hi- i've recently got my 190E back on the road after the winter.

Unfortunately the power steering feels really weird.. its sort of stiffer than normal however sometimes halfway through a turn it feels like the front wheels have lost grip for a second (however it's obvious they haven't).

So is my power steering cutting in and out? that would explain the feeling of losing grip all of sudden..when it cuts in....

Thing is i'm almost certain it's not cutting out completely because it's still not as heavy steering as one would expect a car with none to be..

So- could it be my power steeting fluid or power steering pump?....

Any help is much appreciated.

Check you Ball joints.

I just recently had a BJ failure and before it happened the steering felt real stiff and would not return to center.

If you would have seen the condition of the ball joints it was no wonder it was stiff.

They get all rusty and crusty and it could be possible that they are the cause of your unusual steering feel.

I could be totally wrong but it's worth taking a look at it.
