NEW 190E 2.6 OWNER NEED HELP
Hey yall, after seeing the evo 2 i had to own a 190 e. so i bought one and it sitting in my friends driveway while im deployed. i found lighting and the evo bodykit, I also found wheels. but i want to find suspension and engine websites. I have the 2.6 with 110,000 mile on it. Im going to use it till i swap the motor out. I was thinking of a ford 302 with a tko tranny, obviouly ill need a custom driveshaft. is there anybody that swapped to a bigger mb motor and tranny. thanx jonny

Johnny, I like a big V8 as much as the next bloke. In Australia we luv our V8's. I too have a 190E 2.6. I just think you're missing the point. A properly sorted 2.6 goes very well. If you would like to indulge your V8 desire, get a classic muscle car and do it up.Just dont come on this site and say "he ya'll Im gittin me a V8 in my German import" - you will find no sympathy here.

Theres been LS1 Swaps for the 190'e. There is a lot of custom work that has to be done, Firewall's, Crossmembers, Steering... Ect..... Also The V8's make the 190'e Understeer like you wouldn't believe, as they are typically heavier than the stock motor. Your best bet would be finding an M104 3.6 Amg Motor (3.6 Liter Inline 6 280hp) Your 2.6 is an M103 (2.6 liters 160hp) Then you could do a couple mods to bring it to 310 or so. In a light car (2800 pounds) 300hp will be flying. Also the swap is pretty easy, All that needs to be done is make a custom wiring harness and grab the 3.6 ecu and your pretty much there. Just my 2 Cents

If you want to pony up your 190 2.6 - simple
Start with about $1200 - get a Megasquirt ignition ($213), go to your local wrecker - you blokes live in the USA, ask for a used Eaton M90 of a late 80's Thunderbird. This should cost you $350 - $400. YOur 2.6 is now pumping out 170 - 180 Kw. No massive re-enginneering, small cost and no massive weight gain to destroy handling. - JUst go and do it. Forget a V8 - it's totally illogical

Thanks for the info ill look into it. I know alot of custom work will be needed. I was even thinking it would need a tube chassis. its just im brand new to mb vehicles. ive been a ford guy my whole life. the only thing that worries me is the maintence on the amg motor and the cost for replacement parts. But it would still retain some value...thanks for the tip....do u know any other parts that i can salvage off other models. there seems to be alot of benzs down here in georgia
