Should i buy this merceds benz e190/2.6?
EXCELLENT opportunity for old Mercedes enthusiast or someone who likes to tinker on German cars.
We have too many cars and I am ready to part with my 1989 Black Mercedes Benz, which I have owned for about 10 years, but have not driven for the past 2 years. The car has been in dry/clean storage for the past two years, so it definitely needs some TLC. However, it does clean up nice and when it runs, it runs very well. We want newer cars and do not work on cars, nor want to spend money to fix it up.
DETAILS:
1989 E-190/ 2.6 L
Automatic
Gasoline (Not diesel)
168,207 miles
Black, automatic
Sunroof
Power windows & seats (driver's seat motor needs to be fixed)
JVC CD stereo/speakers installed in 2000,
Gray Mercedes 'leather' interior is in very good condition
Woodgrain details
Two tone black/dark gray exterior in good condition
(aside from dented passenger door, broken taillight & faded spot on hood)
Alternator replaced in 2000
Not driven much since brakes/rotors/pads, Goodyear tires and exhaust were replaced.
We know it needs a new battery, as the current one needed to be jumped. It starts, but stalls.
A GREAT FIXER UPPER.

is this a steal or a nightmare waiting to happen. Please help me guys.
Also the fact that this car might not have a driver and passenger airbag is disturbing does anyone know if this car has airbags.
thanks!

Not running for 2 years might lead you into problems you dont want to deal with.. I would try to go for less than a grand...otherwise, probably not worth it. I wouldnt be too anxious to make a deal, its probably not gonna go anywhere fast thanks to all the immediate issues and the ones that could follow from being neglected
