Squeaky belt when cold - tensioner?
When my water pump went south (see my previous thread) the local mechanic offered to also change the accessory drive belt on the front of my 1991 190R 2.3
When cold the car makes a horrible squeaking sound that sounds like the belt is dry. It tends to diminish at higher rpms and then goes away when warm.
I did put some belt conditioner on the belt itself which helped a little but Im thinking the problem is the tensioner that might need lubricated or replaced...
Any steer from fellow 190 MB Worlders welcome...

Good point - belt conditioner was not effective
I found the squeak coming from the alternator. Hit the alternator shaft with some WD40 and its as quiet as mice....
