lcar does not shift near redline at kickdown
I own a 88 190E 2.3 auto and even when I hit the kickdown and pedal flat on the floor the maximum rpm it would go is 4,000 for the 1-2 shift and around 4,400rpm on the 2-3 shift. I noticed that this corresponds with the max speed for each gear on the speedometer. I tried manually holding the gears and on 2nd at reaching 4,400rpm it would do a fuel cut off or some sort of limiter... A few years ago, it would shift near redline on when flooring it. Checked and adjusted the bowden cable but it still shifts low. Also to add the 1st - 2nd gear shift is very hard and chirps ng tires.. Is this a modulator issue or any vacuum leaks? Does the cis-E have any limp mode that restricts the rpms. Car drives fine otherwise..
