possibly first in the world (the way i'm doing it)v8 190e

okay let me start out by admitting that i actual just joined the MBworld today. i have all way had a thing for merks going as far as convincing my mom to buy a e420 estate when i was just 15 (my mom hates merks she thinks there to flashy).

im studying automotive tech in collage and im going for my master tech so im not just some novice who wants to only shove the biggest engine i can find in the lightest car. i have alot of technical background and know my way around the engine bay so i would really appreciation if this froum would lean more on the technical side of conversation. i know what im about to say is going to sound kind of red neck but there a method to my madness

THE IDEA:
put a domestic v8 motor such as a Chevy 350, ford 351/302 and a manual 6 speed trans in a 1990s 190e. i conpletly understand how much fabrication is ahead of me as far as i can tell and ive talked to alot of people this hasnt been done before and thats kind of part of why i want to do it the other part is one of my friends dad just bought him a 96 M3. (we all hate his rich *** but were happy for him) and i want to be faster. but mostly im a sucker for uniqueness and something new

i just want to know if anyone can offer advice or if they know anyone who has attempted it

PS: Im in school for automotive not English so i would appreciated if fokes would just address the question and not my grammar

just a little back story on me. I know im what people call a "noob" but i'm more than that. I a former drift car builder and driver (high school antics i guess). Recently i spent a lot of time with a friend of mine turbocharging and building a custom kit for his e36 BMW 325i as well as a 92 Subaru inpreza eg20 STI swap. ( regrettably the Subaru never got finished the owner we were building it for ran out of money and interest) Now i want to start this project for my own and really would like all the help and advice anyone would like to give.

thank you for viewing,
Jack

If you search the net you can probably find my buddies 190E that he dropped a Chev 350 (LT1) in way back in about '99, it was in Edmonton, Canada. It was a pretty fast little car and it was completed over a 4 week period. He wrote the car and his life off in '01 when he blew a tire racing on a highway.

Sorry pal, don't really remember any specifics other than we fab'd up a lot of parts in regards to brackets and such in the shop over the weekends and it was running in about a month. I lost touch with those guys years ago after they all turned to the dark side of the rice rocket force.

Haha the dark side I like how u put that. That sucks well you seem like a seasoned member could you do me a solid, and try and get some people you know onto this forum like I said I just joined today. This is a project I'm doing no mater what but I'd like as many people commenting on it as possible. I learned along time ago that pride and the " I'll do it my self with no help " attude is foolish and an easy way to end up in the loony bin. Haha

I've lost to many friends to street racing myself. I'm not building this car for that it's going to be my personal car just to have something different, and to take to the drag strip for fun with friends.

The biggest engine I've seen in a 190e was the 6.0L AMG

Search for the member cascade on Benzworld or here. He can probably help you out

Hey guys I really want to say thanks for the interest in my thread. I know I'm a new member and honestly I didn't think I would get much attention if any getting responses less than 48 hrs after posting is unbelievable. Thanks again I'd like to start throwing ideas around.
I'm starting with what I call stage 1 sort of a proof of concept platform on witch I can upgrade

After much thought I'm going to go with the LT-1 corvette motor for stage 1 just because of knowing it worked in the past is like knowing a math problem comes out even with no variables and if It doesn't work I messed up somewhere and that it's not a bad concept. I'm still trying to find a good trans
candidate im really shooting for a 6 speed but I think I'll have to go with a 5 just for stage one. I want to try and keep the stock rear end after talking to a Mercedes mechanic of 30 years. He advised me that one I'm crazy for doing this but he wants in on the build and the stock rear end can handle up to 400 hp and stage1 (S1) shouldn't come close to that. That means I'm going to have to get a custom prop
shaft made. To be completely honest I saw that coming no matter what. No body mods for a long time
I want to concentrate on getting it powered before I go adding paint or fancy lightweight race wheels. As
for interior gutting it is actualy my first job I'm going to save it if I can I eventually want to run a full
interior but I figure I'll have to mod the trans tunnel and cut a new hole for the gear shifter since I'm
going with a completely different motor and trans one not designed with this application in mind.

I figure I have to stiffen up the body or can the 190 handle the added hp and torque ?

I know I'm probably forgetting something if y'all see anything i skipped just post it much après eared

I own the red AMG V8 190E that discoduck posted above.

It's getting engine work and mechanical work down in Atlanta, and then it'll come up to me in PA to get cosmetics done, and then I'm gonna fire it up and drive it before I put it up for sale.

28K original miles, no-expense spared V8 and AMG widebody conversion (cost someone over $100K back in the day). A true one-of-a-kind collector car.
