What do you think?
Hi, i'm thinking about purchasing a 1986 190 2.3-16 from a local dealer. It has power everything including the sunroof, but it has a manual transmission (that's ok....at least I know how to drive one). It has leather and same ole same ole. The best part is that it only has 51,000 original miles on the clock. They're asking $8950 for it. Do you think it is a fair price? KBB says it's only worth about $5325 from a dealer even in as good of condition it is in. Here are 4 pics of the car from the dealer website on traderonline!

Let me know what you think?! Thank you!

Go for it
It is the 16 Valve model of the 190E with true leather interior. It is suposed to have a manual transmission because it is a sports model meant for pure driving pleasure, where the driver is in control. With that low of miles, that is a good find. Never mind what KBB says. That is a collectors car...

When the dealership opens, ask them if you can have the car inspected by a Mercedes mechanic, one that works principally on Mercedes, not Mr. Goodwrench. The Cosworth 16 valve has some unique bits, including the Gertag doglegged 5-Speed and the SLS hydraulic rear suspension. Have the compression checking all 4 cylinders, have the A/C system looked at, the condition of the exhaust system, fuel pumps (there are two pumps) and the cooling system. 16 valve parts are at a premium above normal W201 pieces, so you might as well find out if the car is truly a "cream puff" before you buy.

MTI, thanks for the great information. You may have just saved me a lot of headaches and money! Anyway, my grandfather is going to the Credit Union tomorrow to get a certified cashier's check to buy me the car!!!! I'm very pleased now that I finally got a car. Now I just have to add a few of my added touches and pay for gas and insurance(which will be outrageously expensive). By the way we were able to get the salesman down from $8950 to $6500 cash plus tax! Thanks for everything and I'll post pics as soon as possible!
