Start problem (Experiment)
Hi guys, i am *BRAND NEW* in the forum .
Well, 3 weeks ago my 190E was working fine, then i had the great idea of upgrading my ignition system to the one in the 2.3-16 because it "may be an improvement" .
I already was using the gearbox and flywheel from a 2.3-16 (previous was automatic) so i tought: I have the flywheel, i just need to install the sensor, the ignition module, the complete wiring, the distributor, a intake temp sensor, a water temp sensor (for ecm & module), and it should work just fine.
The thing is that i just finished installing all the things except that i left the original distributor, wich has a sensor inside and centrifugal advance, since i think it should perform exactly as the fixed one distributong the sparks to the plugs, so i can start the engine still using the old one as it is still in correct timing (pointing to the right tower at the right moment).
Well... i tried to start the engine and it just sputters and explodes in the intake (and sometimes in the exhaust). tried again and wanted to start and then i felt like is extremely advenced timing. I mean EXTREMELY, it stops the engine from turning when a cylinder fires.
I was thinking that my "genius" mechanic may have installed the flywheel ignoring the positioning pin, offseting the triggering plates.
I am too upset to even try to figure out the problem

Lowering the gearbox now JUST to check if my flywheel is on the correct position.
Ohhh what a nice sunday to work under my car while all my family is enjoying a delicious smelling barbecue.
