looking into a 2.3 16V, need advices
I currently own a C36 AMG and I'm about to sell it because I can't really take this out in the winter, I find it to "fragile"
So I'm looking into the 2.3 16V witch seems more reliable and less powerful. also, because it has a LSD.
I live in a suburb near Montreal, Quebec, so I have to think about winter driving around 4 to 6 month a year. Notice that most of the time the road are either dry or cold wet and sometimes with a bit of snow on it. So I think it could be drivable. The only thing is the government uses a lot of Salt on the roads and not Sand, So I'm scared of the rust and corrosion.
I'm interested into some 2.3 16V but with my budget, I won't be able to buy a super clean one with low mileage. Most of the 16V I'm looking for are in the 175 000km to 200 000km +
I know it's an old car and I'm probably gonna need to replace some parts. ALso I'm not a mechanic, but I can do some stuff myself and I like to work on engines, ect. *I know I will have to do a check up on it* But I'd like to know if by experience, is there any thing to check especially (IE : on my C36, the Wiring harness and head gasket are weakness known)
Finally, is it an engine hard to work on ? are the parts expensive ? (I Know it's a MB, but still)
Is it a car that you could say : go for it, it's worth it or wait till you get more money to buy one in better shape.
If you have any other suggestions, Inputs, comments, feel free !
Thanks
