1991 2.3 Hard Shifting when cold
Hi all!
I've got a 1991 2.3 which only hard shifts when the engine is cold. When the engine comes up to 80, the shifting is silky smooth.
Accelerating sometimes leads to clunky downshifting, and at other times the gear change is pretty much flawless.
I've done some reading and got to these conclusions:
a. Changing the K1 (or is it B1...?) spring kit in the transmission.
b. Changing the fluid and filter of the transmission.
For "b", i'm not sure how much fluid should I fill up, read quite a lot of suggestions, ranging from 5 quarts to 6.2 quarts. Is Type A fluid good to go for the automatic transmission or should I fill it up with Dextron II/III fluid?
Any help would be appreciated.....!
