Questions about 190e Customization

I do not have a 190e yet, but am deciding between a few cars, adn the 16v Cosworth is in the running. I was curious if:

1. The 300e brake conversion will fit under Monoblock rims?
1a. Are there different versions of monoblocks?

2. Is this car lowered, or do the new rims and tires fill out the wheel wells better?

what cars are you looking at and what are you looking to do with them? i own a 1991 190e 2.3l-8valve with 193k miles that is my own lil personal money pit and second gf. the car in that link is lowered (it says so if you read the description) and that is also an automatic which i would shy away from unless you want it to be strictly a daily driver that you never plan on taking to the track. the 190e is down on power for its weight in its class, so if you are running an automatic those issues are even more apparent.. where as a stick shift you can heel-toe and keep the rpm up thru corners, ready at the release of a clutch pedal. i use to own a 1991 toyota mr2 3s-ge 2.2l n/a 5 speed with t-tops. fun little car, reliable, faaairrrly cheap to work on, and loads of cheap aftermarket parts. but it didnt feel nearly as solid as my 190e does and in my opinion my 190e (with front tires rubbing and blown out struts and strut mounts) STILL feels more stuck to the road and more solid then my mr. 2 ever did. it all depends on what you plan on doing with the car.. and i only paid 1200$ for my 190e and 1000$ for the mr. 2 so a bid of 6k$ with a reserve not met on a 190e-auto is a lil crazy in my opinion..

Generally speaking, you can fit 335mm rotors into a 17" wheel, 355mm into 18" wheel, and for the big guns (ie 390mm) you need 19-20" wheels.

To answer your second question, it's been lowered and the wheels are 18" monoblocks. I can imagine that there was either lots of fender rolling, or lots of rubbing occurring on a regular basis with that setup. I'm sure it would be feasible to get that setup working properly though.

Thanks for the responses. I am seriously considering a 190e 16v because I've always wanted one and now have the means to pull it off. But becasue its such a bargain (I hope) I will do: brakes, sway bars, exhaust, intake, tint, rims and springs.

I've talked to a few owners so far and I think I am gonna go with 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 monoblocks with H&R coils. Doesn't sound like I'll have rubbing issues.
