Benz Noob w/ a Cosworth
I just left my 17+ year comfort zone by trading the last BMW in my garage for a 1987 190e 2.3 16v Cosworth. Its not pretty as the idiotic owner prior to the last painted it white. (WHY?!) but the interior overall is in good condition. Per the P.O. the SLS was refreshed but it seems to be locked up. He mentioned settings. At minimum I am going to need front struts and want to lower the car anyway. Are there actual height or stiffness settings? What are my suspension options?
Also, is there a diagram on installing the sunroof motor? It was taken loose and I'm not sure how it goes back.
What do I need to know about them and where can I find it? I'm excited about it. It reminds me of a 4 door BMW e30 "is" model.
I look to the gurus for guidance

Check out 190rev for answers to all your questions. I think I have a MB CD for the car showing how to do almost everything including the sunroof. I'll look for it and let you know.

Bilstein b8 struts, febi bilstein strut mounts, and springs of your choice. Im trying to find a set of tein springs that will fit atm upgrading the tire and rims with lighter alloy will help unsprung weight and handling. I have clk wheels with porteza rubber, but will be going to toyo proxy instead of the porteza for better sizing options. The sls is nice to have but a pain to deal with, you can either beat your head against the sls, or go to coilovers on all 4 corners.

Is there anything special I have to do to "cap" the SLS if/when I remove it? Or can I just make sure I remove a fuse?

That I am not quite sure about. Mine does not have sls so I haven't read up on the mechanical workings beyond a basic understanding of how they function. I thought the back shocks were replaced with air shocks of some type with a system to divert pressure back and forth between the two rear absorbers. If im wrong and there are shocks and then a secondary absorber for the sls then you should be able to do coil overs and the sls. Worth researching?
