You can get the shop manual online in pdf format. That should give you about all you need to know. There are also a number of forums dealing with the W201's where tech data and more basics are exchanged. Google is your friend!

Hello vance190e,
If your looking just a step by step service book for your 190E, I wouldn't look any further than a Hanye's book. Their a little pricey but defiantly worth it.
If your just looking for a guy to look after the maintenance and repair of your Mercedes, I'd look for a good local German Auto shop.
You can always post any problems you get on MBWorld as well as search the forum to see if someone else has solved a similar problem.
I myself am quite experienced with W201 and W124 Mercedes-Benz. There are plenty other fine folks just like me that would be more than willing to help.

Yeah, I saw that online manual too. It's very in depth. I'm a big fan of having a hard copy tho and that manual has a lot of specialized info that a regular home-mechanic really doesn't need.
It's all preference tho.

Might cost a couple bucks to print , laminate, and bind it (grease free!) And covers everything a hanyes does but the format is more of an official mercedes repair manual you would find the dealer techs using. And a hanyes would cost 10x just printing and what-not. IMO
