85 190E Mercedes
85 190E wanting modifications
i have just purchased a 85 190E in mint condition for a great price. i am now ready to use that money i saved to somewhat adapt it from a retired persons car to a younger persons car. the main thing that is bothering me about the car is its gearing. i do a lot of long trips and i hate the rpms being at 3500 when only going 60 or 70. how easy would it be for me to get a tansmision to fix that and also possibly put a manual transmision in the car. like would the 2.3 16v transmision work?

Probably will not be easy to install a manual transmission, especially because of the clutch. I wouldn't bother. I'm not thrilled about running 3,500 RPM at 75 MPH, but after 228,000 miles, my 260E is running strong.
Don't bother with engine mods either. Mercedes engines are great as they are. If power is an issue, get a bigger car.

I would check out 190revolution.net as they have many threads on how to swap trannies.... Also much more info on there forums regarding the 190E and mods that can be done.
