Great news if you have one hidden in European storage unit.
NHTSA has approved the 1990 Mercedes Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evolution II for US import under show or display exemption

If you plan on driving the car, you are limited to 2500 miles per year and must maintain a log of all the events you attend. Also, if you actually plan on driving the car on the road, it must be brought in and modified to meet EPA standards, by a registered importer. So, don't forget the bond, fees to the RI, shipping charges, shipping charges to ship the vehicle to one of the few locations where emissions modifications can be performed. Plus the cost of the car.
The only thing this really gets around is the fact the car does not have to be 25 years old, everything else still applies.
