Starting the air conditioning troubleshooting steps
Again on my 1991 190e 2.6 - this time the ac adventure. From what I can tell it's the old R11 system that hasn't been upgraded to R234. Symptoms are when pressing ac or humidifier nothing happens. I think the first step is to jumper the sensor on the receiver dryer to see if your problems are upstream or down. When I jumper them I can hear the clicking of a switch or relay back at the fuse box - so what does this mean? I assume I'm trying to determine if the low fan will be engaged due to the jumper? Next figure out if the compressor is working, then finally vacuum and test the pressure? I'm learning as I go here, I've never done this before, but having just lived through the head gasket replacement I feel sure I can tackle it if I only I knew the steps.
Another funny working on the 190 story:
Sometimes you can get steered very wrong by online tutorials. After reading it over and over I removed the back seats, took everything apart, spent all this time getting to the rear deck, only to find you can just unclip the speaker holders from inside the trunk to do a speaker replacement.
