'84 190e 2.3 very strange Air/Fuel issue....

Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum, and new to the 190e. My dad and I found a great deal on an 84 190e that wasn't running well and picked it up as a daily driver project. Everything suspension, brake, body, interior, electrics and trans wise is running fine but we are having a very interesting air/fuel issue.

It seems as though it isn't getting enough air and I'll explain how. The only way I can get it to start (albeit roughly) is by pulling the injector out of the 2nd cylinder (the one closest to the radiator.) It starts up pretty rough, responds to throttle reasonably well and chugs right along, but when I start putting the injector back in, the closer I get to getting it in fully, the weaker it idles. When I plug the injector with the seal (closing off the hole) it dies.

I've looked at the vacuum system and the idle air control valve everything there looks alright, fresh hoses and all. The plunger is depressing when the throttle is pressed as it should (I think.) I can smell gas and it doesn't seem weak when running on 3.5 cylinders, plugs are definitely working, pump is making a sound when it turns on. Haven't really checked the fuel filter and I've been doing everything with the air filter off!

Anyone have any thoughts? Sorry if my description isn't too good, it's sorta hard for me to describe. I'll post pics and potentially videos tomorrow, next place I'm gonna look is relays.

Thanks in advance and I'm happy to be here!
