Overheating

Anyone had this problem? My fan seems to have stopped working... is this a common problem?
I'll get the multimeter out this evening and see if its the switch
then hardwire the fan to see if thats the problem...

steve, nothing to worry, try to check the temperature sensor it is on top and next to the tappet cover,if standing in front it is just on the right hand side ,try to connect direct ,it is a copper colour switch or sensor where there is a connector on top of it,if connect it doesn't work check the fuses or the wiring,if everything is ok,you might need to change the magnetic clutch fan.

The temp sensor has three poles on it. One with two wires, that is the fan magnet clutch for the main fan, if you short those two wires together the magnet should engage and of course spin the fan faster. connect power to the other wire, the one by itself and that is the elctric fan. The magnetic one should engage at 100 degrees and the electric at 110. The sensor is about 35 bucks from EuropeanAutomotive.com and is the Engine Temp Sensor, under cooling.

Unhappy Same proplem - Fans dont work

I have the same problem with fan failure, but was wondering if you were referring to the 2.6 with the location of the temp sensor? I have looked but cannot see it ... there is something with hoses attached with an electrical thingy on the left side of the engine bay... could this be it? Many thanks in advance,

James.
