1999 E320 Base, 2022 GLC300W4

Upper timing chain cover gasket leak

I've been reading about all kinds of oil leaks and horror stories about blown head gaskets, but I'm pretty sure that my oil leak is coming directly from the left side of this upper cover. Can anyone comment on the gaskets used and how punky they get? Thanks.

1989 MB190E 2.6, 57k mi (that's no typo), restoration in process!
