Help! 190e 2.6 slow cold start
Hi All, im really hoping someone can help me with my start up problem on a '90 190e 2.6 auto . From cold the engine takes ages to turn over, most of the time it needs a push of the accelerator to get started. If I start the car with the accelerator down, it starts instantly. It also idles a bit strangely, not with a constant rhythm.
I can hear the fuel pump when i turn the key to the first position so don't think that's the issue. OVP, cold start valve and spark plugs are also fine. There is a tear in the air intake boot but i doubt that's the sole issue. I ran the the engine with the air filter box removed and it was even harder to start. When i push down the air intake plate, the engine cuts out - is that supposed to happen? Given i can start the car with the gas pedal, i suppose there is insufficient fuel/air being drawn on its own. Help would me much appreciated!
