Ambient Air Temperature Sensor kicks on aux fan?

I recently acquired a 1993 Mercedes Benz 190e. It's in exceptional condition. It's been my daily driver for the last 2 weeks. A little while ago, the axillary cooling fan decided to turn on and stay on whenever the key is turned on. It would pulse on, then roar to full blast. I pulled #1 fuse until I could get to it. Later, I traced it down to the pushmatic temperature control unit that was kicking it on. Further digging isolated it to pin 10 on the left side connector, BR/GN wire (pic) If unplugged, the fan turns off. The actual connector is behind the battery and until I figure it out, I'm leaving it unplugged. If I measure the resistance, it says about 2.6k ohms, which my research says that's about 25 C or 77 f, which should be correct. If I unplug the outside ambient temperature sensor, the aux fan stays off, plug it in and the aux fan goes to full blast. Searches have yielded nothing connecting the two. I was wondering if anyone has come across this before. I'm not entirely sure why this outside temperature sensor would trigger the cooling fan, I don't see any funky wiring, or additions.
Thanks in advance.
