2.5 & 2.3 Transmission
Hi,
I am in the midst of restoring my 190E and using a 2.5 Cosworth engine, but can someone tell me whether I can use a 2.3 cosworth transmission? The engine I got came with an auto transmission and I prefer manual.
Thanks!
Nasser

Are you restoring a 2.3-16 with a 2.5-16?
If so, assuming you have the clutch/brake pedal assembly and the related harness, the Getrag 5-speed from the 2.3-16 should be fine.
If you're putting the 16 valve into a 2.3 or a 2.6L, in addtion to a whole lot of other parts, I believe you'll also need the propeller shaft from the 16 valve car

2.5 & 2.3 Transmission
Hey MTI,
My car is a normal 2 litre going to be a 2.5-16v auto. I found a manual transmission being sold but it's from a 2.3-16v, therefore from your reply I can use a 2.3 trans with the 2.5 engine. Is that right?
Thanks!

The transmission will work, but swapping a 16 valve into a 2.0 is going to be quite a bit of work. I assume that you'll have the 16 valve's ECU; fuel pump relay; ignition system, ABS sensors, etc.

Yeap, I have all the ECU and everything from the front part of the car, I do not have the original hydraulics back suspension and the ABS pump for the back tho. Will get those later on.
Thanks for the help!
